Rent-A-Cop Reloaded
I’ve made the music and sound effects for Rent-A-Cop Reloaded, a new and improved version of Rent-A-Cop released back in 2012. Everybody loves a good cop game, especially when the cop can do amphetamine to become invincible. It’s a simple no bullshit game, and also strangely addictive. Good stuff!
And with the soundtrack my starting point was sort of 70’s police suspense funk, and then move away from that. Or something.
Yeah and there’s also a cracked version with a trainer if you’re into that kind of ILLEGAL stuff.
Robot Performance @ DATASTORM
The robot will return to this hot car to perform live at DATASTORM this weekend. It’s a demoparty, and I’m actually part of the organizer crew. This year we’ll have some pretty legendary people talking about their work. Budbrain talks about their megademos, Triad talks about Red Storm, and Mahoney (and maybe Kaktus) talks about Sounds of Gnome. Not bad huh? Yeah and then there’s all the other great things going on. Tickets still available!
Maniac Mansion / Superdöner
My old band Superdöner has joined forces with the legendary US band Maniac Mansion, to release some of the earliest chip punk music from about 15 years ago. It’s like pizza meeting döner! Finally!
Available on Bandcamp, via the protoDATA label.
(Btw, I’ve also designed the graphics, making spray stencils in square kufic style like a bouz)
Son Ionic
Me and Josh Bailey‘s live performance in New Zealand with his own tesla coil instrument Chime Red is out now on protoDATA as Son Ionic. It comes on an SD-card that sits on this amazing A2 PETSCII-poster by Tommi Musturi (aka Electric). The card contains all the songs as audio and video, as well as the C64 source files, and a small intro with the poster graphics animated.
Most of the songs have been released before, but have been remixed for this performance and to include Josh’s tesla coil instrument Chime Red.
Truckstopdagen, Gothenburg
Truckstop Alaska is one of the best venues in Gothenburg, as those who have been to DATASTORM know. But they’ve been harassed by police and other authorities lately, so come and show your support! I will play live, sort of. The robot will do the playing, but with my music. Eh so, I will be played live?
Oh and btw, tickets for DATASTORM is out on Wednesday. I’m in the organizer team this year too, and I know you will be disappointed if you miss out.
Hello World Remix
My remix of Hello World’s Mega23 that I made a while back has been published in The Remixes. It stays pretty close to the original, with a dash of 6581 here and there. It’s kind of a big release with remixes by eg Zabutom, Dubmood and Misfit Chris. It kind of marks the end of an era. Or the beginning of an era? I’m not sure.
V/A: Warm Data (Bit Rot)
The robot‘s first song is included in the compilation Warm Data, released by Bit Rot. The robot’s song is pretty chill, but otherwise this compilation is for you who like it a bit rougher and more abstract. Includes artists such as Joss Manley, Irrlicht Project, tMT and Raquel Meyers. There’s not just music but also programs and videos, so go n’ get it now.
Electric C64 Night, Wellington, May 3
A set together with Josh Bailey and his Tesla Coil MIDI-instrument, Chime Red. Also featuring Anna Edgington on vocals. It’s in Wellington at a secret location, so if you want to attend, please e-mail us.
The fantastic PETSCII-poster was made by Tommi Musturi (aka Electric in the C64-scene).
Pyramid Club, Wellington, April 28
Performing at the Pyramid Club along with Micro Soft Voices and Strange Stains. More info available here.
Video of the Demobit Performance
Here’s me playing live with a C64 and a delay pedal, with live video processing by Zden. It happened at Demobit in Bratislava where I was supposed to be in person but “due to circumstances” was unable to attend. So I streamed the video/sound, which partly explains the dodgy quality.
The performance was made without any preparations. I start an empty tracker and make the instruments and all the music on the fly.
