Shirbum Micromix
Here’s a little micromix of of my new album. It has snippets of all the songs in the Bandcamp-version of Shirbum. If you decide to also get the shirt, you’ll get 8 more songs. It’s the Shirbum way!
Shirbum
My new release is not just an album, but also a shirt. It’s a shirbum! Catchy and melancholic pop music full of mega basic FM-sounds, synth speech vocals, 80’s drum machines and friendly acid bombs. Made in cooperation with PET.CORP (who btw just launched some other PETSCII-clothes in their shop).
- Shirbum is a high-quality tailor-made C64-shirt that comes with all the 23 songs (QR/stream/download).
- Shirbum Light is the naked digital version with 15 songs (also on Spotify)
The shirt won’t be available for long, so choose wisely! When you place your order you will get the music instantly, and the shirt will be shipped as soon as the tailor is done (more info here).
Btw, the shirt shows one of the songs from the album (Buck) as it looks in the C64-software, JCH Editor, that it was made in.
New Gameboy game with my music
Tower of Hanoi is a new Gameboy game, out now on cartridge. It’s a delicious remediation of the classic Tower of Hanoi math/puzzle game, and one of my songs is used as the in-game music. To be honest, it’s an old song (a version of Bongoloid) that I made some 15 years ago. But who cares about time? It’s all about the moves, and to make as few moves as possible. So I think I won the game already!
The game was coded by David Revelj, who goes under the demoscene name Dalton.
P300% Drain Bamage, Gothenburg
I’m playing at P300% DRAIN BAMAGE in a few weeks along with Company Fuck, Xäcksecks, FTK Soundsystem (filer till kaffet), Håkan Hellstorm, Cybo + Reclaim the Tant, Fuck you Hitler, and secret guests and so on. Come on down and twist and shout in 250 BPM!
V/A: 20kbps Rec. Sweet Sixteen Birthday
20kbps rec. is 16 years old, and here‘s a compilation in beautiful low bit rate on L0BIT to celebrate! There’s many familiar names from the low bitrate scene (!?) like Atarix, Overthruster, Sascha Müller, Toxic Chicken, Irrlicht Project, Origami Repetika, The Hardliner… and me. My song is an Amiga song, Luxus, that you might have heard before, but this time with a special C64 “acid” thing added.
I’ve released stuff on 20kbps since 2004, btw. Two mini-albums among other things.
Storhjernan Protracker Video
Okay, this is how Storhjernan (Storhjärnan? Storgärnan3?) looks in Protracker, the Amiga software that I made it with. The song was recently featured in the music disk Chiperia X. Cheers to Slash, also for capturing the video.
Storhjärnan for Chiperia
Chiperia X was released last week with one of my songs: Storhjärnan. It’s a song that I made for a talent show on TV that I was asked to be in after that cabbage/salad performance got “popular”. Me, The Toilet, Ljudit Andersson and Frantik were going to perform this in an arena in front of a celebrity jury with Mega Competence. Never happened though. Not because of us, though. Well, read all about it in the scroll text, just like it was 1993! The tune starts at 04:22 in this video, so you have two seconds to prepare…
Chiperia is a series of Amiga music disks organized by Slash, one of the most dedicated Amiga music people I know. Check out his YouTube with more than 2000 videos of songs playing in Protracker.
Live Recording with PET.CORP
Sweet <3 for my Def Jam
Last weekend I was in the Netherlands to play at the X’2018 C64 fiesta, and the lovely Gifgrond in Tilburg. I played a fully improvised set, where I start completely from scratch and make all the instruments and composingz as I go along.
Yeah I Know It Sucks had some very nice things to say about my performance. This approach was so unique and friendly, totally unique and exposed; where normally a lot of electronic musicians hide behind their desk, Goto80 showed the polar opposite. [..] He had nothing to hide, didn’t come out all the way from Sweden to play a game of digital patience or check out his emails; he sincerely laid himself and his music process bare, naked in front of you with astonishing music as a result.
Thanks for that! Feels particularly pleasing since I’m working on an album of C64-improvs at the moment. That will be out next year, after I release another album that I’m working on…
So many albums, so little shirbums.
